Zurich Canada names Elizabeth McSavaney Head of Human Resources

The veteran leader brings years of HR experience within and outside the insurance industry.

Elizabeth McSavaney has been named Head of Human Resources for Zurich Canada. She is responsible for leading all aspects of Zurich Human Resources functions in Canada. She is based in Toronto and reports to Zurich Canada CEO Saad Mered, working in close collaboration with Zurich North America Chief Human Resources Officer Laura Rock.

McSavaney most recently served as the Head of HR (Canada and Bermuda) at AIG. She was previously at Unilever, where she served as HR Business Partner in both the U.S. and Canada, and the Change Management leader for strategic programs across the North American business. She has also held several senior HR management roles for the Government of Canada.

McSavaney is bilingual, a Certified Human Resources Leader, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Ottawa. 

McSavaney replaces Scott Thomas, who led the Human Resources function for the past two years. Thomas was recently appointed the Head of Zurich Resilience Services for Canada.
