About Zurich

Supporting communities

At Zurich, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we live and work

Caring for our communities

In Canada, Zurich supports eight core charities in addition to over 30 local non-profits, aligned under three key areas:

  • United Way and children’s hospitals across Canada
  • Health, welfare and social services for children
  • Educational institutions and programs

Taking action and creating impact

We support these organizations through three key initiatives:

Supporting communities

Volunteering

Zurich Canada’s employees donate their time and talent through a variety of events and activities. Our employees not only participate in Zurich’s signature volunteer programs, but also lend their skills and subject matter expertise to help non-profits.

Supporting communities

Employee giving

Employees give generously throughout the year with individual donations at special events and fundraisers such as our annual “A Time For Giving” campaign. Employees also donate in-kind items for drives and fundraising events.

Corporate giving

Zurich provides funding to non-profits that fit our giving philosophy, are located in cities where our company has a presence and have Zurich employees actively involved as volunteers. Zurich Canada also offers employees a matching gift program where we match employee contributions to qualifying non-profits, up to a specific amount per year.

Our seven core charities

Established in 1973, the Montréal Children’s Hospital Foundation’s mission is to support excellence in care at the Montréal Children’s Hospital of the McGill University Health Centre. To do this, the Foundation focuses efforts on three main areas: acquiring cutting-edge medical equipment and supporting innovative programs, support for research into childhood diseases, and the advancement of teaching.
Created in 1987, the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation engages the community and supports CHU Sainte-Justine in its mission to improve the health outcomes of a growing number of children. The Foundation is dedicated to ensuring children and mothers-to-be in Quebec receive a standard of care that is among the best in the world.
Since 1982, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation has worked with children, families, caregivers and hundreds of thousands of British Columbians to raise funds to improve the health and the lives of the young people who are cared for by BC Children's Hospital. The Hospital is the province’s only full-service, pediatric acute care hospital and serves the one million children living in BC and the Yukon.
The Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation was incorporated in 1957 as the official fundraising body for the Alberta Children's Hospital. The Foundation supports excellence in pediatric health care by funding family-centred child health programs, specialized life-saving equipment and advanced pediatric research and education at the Hospital.
United Way Centraide Canada, which originally began in 1917, inspires Canadians to make a lasting difference in their communities. Locally and nationally, their goal is the same: to create opportunities for a better life for everyone in communities across the country.
The Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation raises money to support the pursuit of excellence in children’s health care. Founded in 2001, the Foundation has worked with citizens to support the needs of the Stollery Children's Hospital.
Established in 1972, SickKids Foundation raises funds on behalf of SickKids Hospital. The Foundation inspires communities to invest in health and scientific advances to improve the lives of children and their families in Canada and around the world.
