This ethics-accredited RIBO course explores the foundations of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) and their impact on workplace culture, client relationships, and ethical decision-making. This ethics-accredited session builds a working foundation in diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging for brokers. It defines what DEI means, explores how intersecting visible and invisible identities shape perspective, and examines how implicit bias and privilege influence client relationships. Through reflection and role-play scenarios, brokers practice empathy, reframe bias constructively, and carry more inclusive, ethical practices into their client conversations.

Professional Development/Management
This one-hour technical course takes brokers inside the underwriter’s desk, where more than twenty submissions land each week and most never become quotes. Brokers will see how premium is actually built: expected loss, expenses, risk load and target profit, how loss runs are read as a pattern of frequency and severity, where risk appetite really comes from, and how US exposure changes the conversation. It closes on what makes a winning submission: completeness, an honest loss narrative and realistic timelines.

Technical Insurance
This accredited RIBO course simplifies alternative risk transfer (ART) and shows brokers how these solutions work alongside traditional insurance. Participants will explore captives, self-insured retentions, structured and parametric programs, and other non-traditional approaches, learning when and how to apply them to help clients manage volatility, finance risk more efficiently, and strengthen resilience in a challenging market.
Duration: 1 hour

This one-hour technical course examines business interruption and resilience for Canadian manufacturers, where the income lost to downtime often dwarfs the physical damage. Brokers will review time-element coverages: business interruption, extra expense, and contingent BI, along with the key extensions, the exposures driving losses (fire, extreme weather, cyber, equipment breakdown, and supply chain), and how business continuity planning and a realistic indemnity period help clients recover faster.

This one-hour technical course shows how pollution exposure hides in everyday contracting and why a standard General Liability policy often will not respond. Brokers will examine the CGL pollution exclusion and the limits of “sudden & accidental” cover, what a standalone Contractors Pollution Liability policy reaches: clean-up costs, third-party injury, transport, disposal and completed operations, plus real claims scenarios and the discovery questions that surface exposure and protect the client and the file.
Duration: 1 hour

This one-hour technical course surveys the cyber trends every insurance professional should know. Brokers will examine today’s threat landscape: phishing, stolen credentials, ransomware and AI-driven attacks, where losses now concentrate across third-party, extortion and funds-transfer fraud, and how cyber increasingly triggers physical damage. It closes on the evolution of cyber insurance, from evidence-based underwriting to the first- and third-party coverages that respond when an incident hits.

This one-hour broker education seminar examines the fast-growing, capital-dense world of Canadian data centres, where a single campus can exceed $420–770M in value. Brokers will map five overlapping exposures: property and fire, natural catastrophe, liability, cyber and operational resilience, and see why long-lead equipment makes business interruption the silent driver of total loss. It closes on where the property, cyber and liability towers meet, the gaps between them, and discovery questions for clients.
Duration: 1 hour

This technical session shows how pollution exposure attaches to a client’s own site and why a standard General Liability policy often will not respond. Brokers will review the liability principles that drive exposure: polluter pays, strict, and joint & several, the CGL absolute and total pollution exclusions and the narrow “sudden & accidental” giveback, and how a standalone Environmental Site Liability policy fills the gap with first- and third-party clean-up, bodily injury and property damage.

This one-hour RIBO-accredited course examines PFAS, the “forever chemicals” now at the centre of Canada’s fast-evolving environmental risk landscape. Brokers will learn what PFAS are and where they hide across consumer products, industrial sites, and firefighting foams, the health concerns driving regulation, and how Canada is responding through CEPA, Schedule 1 prohibitions, and National Pollutant Release Inventory reporting. It closes on the rising wave of Canadian PFAS litigation and the proactive risk-management steps, self-assessment and due diligence, that help clients demonstrate a defensible standard of care.

This one-hour seminar examines the multiline risks facing technology companies, where cyber and E&O exposures rarely travel alone. Brokers will review today’s threat landscape: ransomware, supply-chain attacks, and AI-driven deepfakes and phishing, alongside the property, general liability, D&O, crime and EPL exposures tech firms carry, illustrated through real claims scenarios. It closes on why coordinated coverage matters and how Zurich’s technology vertical and risk services support these clients.
Duration: 1 hour

This one-hour technical session shows why standard property and liability cover leaves Canadian manufacturers exposed to pollution loss. Brokers will map the exposure landscape: on-site spills, gradual seepage, transit releases, and regulatory penalties, then see how the CGL absolute and total pollution exclusions and the narrow sudden-and-accidental carve-back leave gradual and off-site loss uninsured. Real claims scenarios lead into how a purpose-built pollution liability policy closes the gap.
Duration: 1 hour

This technical course introduces brokers to private and not-for-profit management liability, which protects directors’ and officers’ personal assets when they are sued for alleged wrongful acts in running a company. Brokers will work through the four coverage parts: Directors & Officers, Employment Practices, Fiduciary and Crime, with real claims scenarios, the Side A/B/C structure, Zurich’s appetite by class, and what a complete submission needs to secure a quote.
Duration: 1 hour

This one-hour construction seminar examines mass timber, which the insurance market is still catching up to. Brokers will cover what CLT and glulam are and why they behave differently from light wood frame, the evolving Canadian code allowing taller timber, and the construction-phase perils that set the price: hot-works fire before sprinklers, moisture intrusion, and batch or workmanship defects. It closes on why premiums run above steel or concrete and how brokers position a submission for appetite.

This two-hour, RIBO-accredited seminar explains how Zurich structures insurance for customers operating across multiple countries. Brokers will cover core terminology: master and local policies, producing and receiving countries, and the difference between admitted and non-admitted cover. It walks through the common business scenarios, Difference in Conditions and Limits, Financial Interest Cover, compliance challenges, and how premium, money movement, and claims are coordinated across a program.
Duration: 2 hours

This session examines the employer’s duty of care to employees travelling on business, as global travel risk grows and Canadian workplace-violence law expands. Brokers will see how Bill C-45 and provincial health and safety legislation extend the “workplace” to staff abroad, and the regulatory, civil, criminal, and reputational consequences of falling short. It closes on how travel risk management and Zurich Travel Assist support due diligence and coverage.
Duration: 1 hour

This one-hour RIBO-accredited course explains jurisdictional inspections of boilers and pressure vessels (BPVs) and why Ontario and Quebec are the only provinces where certified insurance inspectors, not the safety authority alone may carry them out. Brokers will review the TSSA and RBQ regulatory framework, which objects require inspection and on what one-, two-, and three-year cycles, the triage questions that surface exposure, and how a Certificate of Inspection (COI) is obtained and kept valid. It closes on the broker’s role in guiding clients, flagging alterations, repairs, and service changes, and factoring inspection costs into coverage discussions so insureds stay compliant and avoid fines, shutdowns, and business disruption.
