Training programs at Zurich

The Zurich claims trainee program gives you the opportunity to begin a career in commercial insurance. This is a great opportunity for individuals who want to be challenged and become successful members of our claims team. You will learn all aspects of handling claims by following Zurich's best practices through our structured 12-month training program.

We have entry-level opportunities in our claims organization in the following lines of business:

  • Auto
  • General liability
  • Property
  • Recovery services

Your claims career begins in your home office with a structured training plan, working with the local manager and team, as well as classroom training at our home office in Schaumburg, IL. Throughout your training, you will progressively build your skills as you are introduced to more complex claims, case studies and skill-building exercises that help you understand how to work both internally and with our customers.

Zurich’s underwriter training program is for recent graduates with the drive to become successful members of our underwriting team. While working in our training program, you will learn the fundamentals of multiline underwriting including measuring exposure, analyzing risk, pricing, quoting and setting coverage.

Upon successful completion of the classroom training, you will work in the field or a line-of-business office setting and will continue to work with your manager, mentor and peer underwriters to understand “The Zurich Way of Underwriting.” You will perform basic underwriting functions in a market-facing or product-underwriting role while continuing to develop your professional skills and create a strong foundation for your career in insurance.

As an underwriter, you will help your customers understand the risks they face, and how to best handle each risk. You will develop relationships with the brokers selling our policies and will be crucial in helping the organization achieve our growth strategy.
