Markus Giese

Skills and experience

Markus Giese is Head of Compliance for Zurich Canada. In this role, Markus leads a team responsible for the compliance program including promoting an ethics-based culture, delivering compliance and regulatory solutions to business partners, and providing assurance that compliance risks are identified and managed. Before becoming Head of Compliance, Markus had been with Zurich Germany since 2005, most recently as Head of Customer-Facing Conduct Compliance. He has also twice served as Zurich Germany’s Chief Compliance Officer ad interim. Before his career in compliance, Markus worked in a variety of sales and marketing positions, where he gained a wide knowledge of the insurance market.

Educational background

Markus has a Bachelor of Business Administration from HZ University of Applied Sciences, a diploma in Economic Law from FOM University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management and a Master of Laws in Insurance Law from JurGrad Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster.
