Michael Rice is the Head of Audit for Zurich Canada. In this role, Michael leads a team of professionals responsible for developing and delivering a risk-based program of audits as part of the global Group Audit function. Working with the Canadian management team, Michael provides independent, objective and insightful assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management, internal control and governance processes within Canada. Michael joined Zurich in April 2022 from Intact Financial Corporation where he was a Director, Internal Audit. He has over 15 years of international insurance audit experience, having held progressively senior internal audit roles in the UK, Ireland and Canada, including key roles with RSA Insurance and Hansard Group.
Educational background
Michael is a UK Chartered Internal Auditor (CMIIA), globally Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and holds the global Qualification in Internal Audit Leadership (QIAL) from the Institute of Internal Auditors, and a Diploma in Internal Audit (PIIA) and Certificate in Internal Audit and Business Risk (IACert) from the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors.
