We care about your children's privacy and are committed to protecting it. This website is not aimed at minors and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone under the age of 16. Personal information of minors that we may have has been provided to us by the parents or legal guardians.
We reserve the right to make changes to or update our Online Privacy Statement. Our Online Privacy Statement applies to personal information collected on this site on or after the date on which the statement has come into effect. Any revisions to our Online Privacy Statement will apply to personal information collected under previous versions of our Online Privacy Statement.

When you first logged on to the internet, your computer was assigned a number called an IP address by a central internet database. Whenever you access any website, like ours, your computer sends this IP address to the host computer (which also has its own IP address). This allows the two computers to communicate and keeps a record of the interchange (comparable to the way telephone systems keep a record of phone calls made or received), including the date and time of such interchange. We do not use IP addresses to trace the identity of users of our websites or use "trace routing" or other such procedures for commercial purposes. Naturally, we reserve the right to do so to protect the security of our systems and meet our legal obligations.

When you visit our website, we automatically collect information such as your operating system type, browser type, domain, and other system settings, as well as the language your system uses and the country and time zone where your device is located. The Web server logs may also record information such as the address of the Web page that referred you to the Online Services and the IP address and regional location of the device you use to connect to the Internet. They may also log information about your interaction with the Online Services, such as which pages you visit. Please see the section “What are cookies and other tracking mechanisms?” below for more information.

We and our service providers use cookies and other tracking mechanisms to track information about your use of our site or Online Services. We may combine this information with other personal information we collect from you (and our service providers may do so on our behalf), but not without your consent.

Cookies. Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your device’s hard drive through your web browser for record-keeping purposes. Some cookies allow us to make it easier for you to navigate our site and Online Services, while others are used to enable a faster log-in process or to allow us to track your activities at our site and Online Service. There are two types of cookies: session and persistent cookies.

  • Session Cookies. Session cookies exist only during an online session. They disappear from your device when you close your browser or turn off your device. We use session cookies to allow our systems to uniquely identify you during a session or while you are logged into the site and Online Services. This allows us to process your online transactions and requests and verify your identity after you have logged in, as you move through our site and Online Services.
  • Persistent Cookies. Persistent cookies remain on your device after you have closed your browser or turned off your device. We may use persistent cookies to track aggregate and statistical information about user activity.

Clear GIFs, Pixel Tags, and other Technologies. Clear GIFs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on your computer’s hard drive, clear GIFs are embedded invisibly on web and app pages. We may use clear GIFs (a.k.a. web beacons, web bugs or pixel tags), in connection with our Site and Online Services to, among other things, track the activities of Site visitors, help us manage content, and compile statistics about Site usage. We and our service providers also use clear GIFs in HTML e-mails to our customers, to help us track e-mail response rates, identify when our e-mails are viewed, and track whether our e-mails are forwarded.

Third-Party Analytics. We may use automated devices and applications, such as Google Analytics, to evaluate usage of our site. We also may use other analytic means to evaluate our site. We use these tools to help us improve our site’s performance and user experiences. These entities may use cookies and other tracking technologies, such as web beacons, to perform their services. We require these entities to protect any information collected and comply with applicable laws. We prohibit these entities from sharing this information with companies not affiliated with them and from sending you unsolicited e-mails (SPAM). We will not use third-party analytics, as described in this paragraph, without your consent.

Do-Not-Track. Currently, our systems do not recognize browser “do-not-track” requests.

Any personal or other information collected by a site you may visit linked to this site will be in accordance with its policies and subject to the laws that apply to it.
For various reasons, including to measure traffic activity and preferred areas of our site, we may from time-to-time track and share with others certain anonymous statistical information regarding usage of our sites or its users. You can be rest assured that this type of information is aggregated anonymously and will not personally identify you.
We offer you certain choices about what personal information we collect from you, how we use that information, and how we communicate with you. Some areas of the Online Services provide features that allow you to access and update personal information you have provided there. Some areas contain features that permit you to register your communications preferences, such as by indicating your preference to receive information about particular types of products. You may visit the area of the Online Services where you provided personal information to learn if it provides these features. If it does not, you can contact us as described in the Contact Information section to update your preferences, ask us to remove your information from our mailing lists or submit a request.

Protecting your personal information is a priority for us. In addition to secure servers that are not accessible to unauthorized persons, we may, depending on the nature of information in question and other factors, use on this website other security measures such as:

  • ID and password protected systems
  • Secure electronic transactions (SET)
  • Secure sockets layers (SSL)
  • Computer firewalls (hardware and software)

No means of information storage or transmission, whether the postal system or the Internet, offers 100% security. But we think that by working together with our customers, risks can be minimized.

If you cease to be our customer, we will handle your personal information gathered on this site in accordance with the terms of our Privacy Policy. Zurich has a record retention schedule and an information governance framework which oversees the lifecycle of personal information. We may retain your personal information as needed to provide you services or as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. From time to time, we may contact you to inform you about new products or services, unless you request otherwise.

Affiliates:

By "affiliates" or "affiliated companies" we mean companies (separate legal entities) that are members of the Zurich Insurance Group.

When you visit our site and desire specific information, you are asked to select your country, so that you can get in touch with our affiliated company that can best serve you. In that case, any collection and use of personal or other information will be done by that affiliate, in accordance with its policies and subject to the laws that apply to it.

However, when we share directly any personal information gathered on this website with an affiliated company - whether it is located in your country of residence or outside - you can be sure it has committed to protect this information.

External Service Providers:

From time to time, we may use external service providers or contractors within or outside of your country of residence to perform certain services on our behalf. This may be done, for example, to help us handle billing statements, answer phone or other queries, process claims for our customers, or send a product announcement.

When we give external service providers/contractors access to personal information collected, we require them to protect this information and comply with applicable data protection and privacy laws. We prohibit these companies from sharing this information with companies not affiliated with them and from sending our customers unsolicited e-mails (SPAM).

External Partners:

By "external partners" we mean a company or individual with whom we may work but which is not an affiliate of the Zurich Insurance Group and not an external service provider/contractor as described above.

We may work with selected external partners, from within or outside your country of residence, to put together joint offerings (or offerings from them alone) that are tailored to your needs or provide you greater choice. For example: we may team up with an external banking organization to make certain banking products available to you.

If to do this we find a need to share with external partners personal information collected on this site, we strive to limit it to information that is needed for the products or services to be offered. To work with us, these external partners have to agree to protect personal information we share with them and to comply with applicable data protection and privacy laws. Additionally, we prohibit them from sharing this information with companies not affiliated with them and from sending our customers unsolicited e-mails (SPAM).

But if you would prefer for us not to share your personal information collected on this site with external partners for non-joint offerings (i.e., not jointly offered or sponsored with us or not done pursuant to a joint marketing agreement with us), you may tell us (opt out) and we will honour your request.

We may if necessary also share personal information externally:

  • To comply with laws, regulations, and, where obligatory, industry rules
  • To resolve any service or billing disputes
  • In the context of legal proceedings
  • To prevent fraud
  • To anyone holding a legal or beneficial interest on behalf of the customer or us
  • Depending on the products we provide you, to meet contractual or other obligations in the context of reinsurance, securitization, financial guarantees and other such transactions
  • As you may request or approve
